As the Angora Fire in South Lake Tahoe hit 100% containment, I finished this piece - Lake Mother. Pretty significant timing I think. I had wanted to create a piece that showed the joy of a mother watching over her child - in this case Lake Tahoe. That's what we feel like we have right now - a lot of care and watching over after this devastating fire. But, everyone should know that Tahoe is beautiful. In fact, if you drove from one end of the town to the other you probably wouldn't notice any burned areas. It is well hidden, but not forgotten. Myself, along with many other businesses will be donating a portion of what we make to help rebuild our community. The best thing people can do to help right now is to come enjoy Lake Tahoe. A lot of people who lost their homes in the fire are small business owners. The number of visitors to the lake right now is down. What a devastating thing to lose your home and then watch your business lose money. So come celebrate the Lake and our wonderful community. I will be at the Tahoe Arts Festival July 8th and 9th on Hwy 50 and Lyons Ave (Tahoe Middle School). I am sharing a booth with fellow mixed media artist Melissa Gregory. We will be on the grassy area 10-6 on Saturday and 10-5 on Sunday. See you there!
