BUT WHERE'S THE CAKE?

Well, just a few days before my husband's 5th anniversary at his workplace, a surprise party was held for all the guys in his department. But wait...where were the banners and the cake? Ohhhhh, they were laid off instead. Don't you hate it when that happens? I must say I am very proud of my husband and his co-workers for expressing their views with the utmost professionalism. They were even complimented by the GM for this same reason. I guess he wasn't sure if they were going to band together and destroy the place or what.

It turned out a little better than expected. They weren't just pushed off the precipice. They were given a little bit of a severance. Still, every day, I look at my husband and ask, "Have they sent the cake yet?" Is it too much to ask for a little piece of cake to celebrate 5 years of service? I think I'll make him a cake. After all, we've been together for nearly 20 years! It's the least I can do.
